My grandmother used to have several Hachiya persimmon trees in her yard along with many other fruit trees. Hachiya persimmons are beautiful orange colored soft fruits when fully ripe. Hachiya persimmons can be used to make delicious persimmon cookies that are soft and moist. My grandmother has since passed on, but her recipe for baking persimmon cookies has been a tradition in our family that is now being passed on to her fourth generation.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Pre-sifted flour can be used instead of sifting flour. Margarine can also be used instead of shortening for a healthier cookie.
